CBQA Global – The ISO 14064 standard (initially published in 2006 and updated in 2018) is part of the ISO 14000 series of International Standards for environmental management. The ISO 14064 standard provides governments, businesses, regions and other organisations with a complementary set of tools for programs to quantify, monitor, report and verify greenhouse gas emissions. The ISO 14064 standard supports organisations to participate in both regulated and voluntary programs such as emissions trading schemes and public reporting using a globally recognised standard.
The Standard is published in three parts:
ISO 14064 Verification Statement (also known as “Green-House Gases / GHG Verification Statement”) is a third-party audit performed by a certification body such as CBQA Global. Upon verification that an organization is in compliance with the requirements of ISO 14064, CBQA Global will issue an ISO 14064 certificate of verification statement.
ISO 14064-1 helps organizations quantify their greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. It specifies how organizations can develop inventories of the sources of such emissions and identify actions to reduce them too. In addition, it enables easy auditing and comparison, making it simpler to assess which of these actions are working and which are not.
ISO 14064-2 is used to quantify the amount of GHG emissions reductions or removal enhancements. ISO 14064-2 has been in use since it was originally published in 2006 in various carbon credit schemes, including the national/local/private sector’s GHG programmes.
ISO 14064-3 serves to verify reports developed using 14064-2 and other project-level GHG quantification. The new ISO 14064-3 has been expanded to apply to product-level carbon footprint reports.
